Department of Small Matters

Terms of Use

Last updated: 11 July 2026

A place to have small things acknowledged and set down for the record. Please read the terms on which the Department is open to you.

Please Note

Let It Be Known is a ceremonial record. Its certificates, notices and "Instruments of Record" are a way of acknowledging everyday matters. They carry no legal force, and the Department is not a court, a regulator, a dispute-resolution service or a source of legal, medical or professional advice.

1. Who we are and your agreement

Let It Be Known, the Department of Small Matters, is an app operated by Everyday Arc Ltd ("we", "us", "our", "the Department"). By entering the offices of the Department and using the app, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What the Department is

The Department receives small matters, grievances, commendations, observations and the like, and returns them to you as a ceremonial certificate entered on a record. It is a work of gentle formality. Nothing the Department issues is a legal ruling, a finding of fact, or evidence, and using the app creates no legal relationship between you and any person your matter mentions.

3. Eligibility and your account

You should be old enough to agree to these terms in your country before using the app. You may use the app anonymously or register with Apple, Google or email. If you register, you are responsible for keeping access to your account secure. Please note that an anonymous file is held against the device and sign-in you used to create it; if you lose access to it, the Department may not be able to recover the matters recorded on it.

4. The nature of certificates

Certificates, directives, case numbers, seals and the language of office are stylistic devices. They are issued for acknowledgement and personal keeping only. They confer no rights, impose no obligations on anyone, and should not be presented as official documents of any kind.

5. Public filings and objectionable content

Let It Be Known includes public user-generated certificates on the Bulletin. The Department has no tolerance for objectionable content.

You must not submit, publish, or attempt to publish content that is abusive, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, threatening, unlawful, sexually explicit, exploitative, spam, or intended to expose another person's private information. You must not use the Department to target, intimidate, or harm a specific person or group.

The Department may refuse to process a submission, remove a public filing, restrict interactions, or suspend access where content or conduct breaches these terms. Users may report public filings for review and may block claimants whose public filings they do not wish to see. Before publishing a first public certificate, you must affirmatively accept these public-filing terms in the app. You can file privately instead.

6. Your content and permissions

You keep ownership of the matters you file. By choosing to make a filing public, you grant the Department a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute that certificate within the app so that it can appear on the Bulletin and public registry. This licence ends when the certificate is deleted, except where copies must remain in backups or where the law requires otherwise. You are responsible for the matters you file and confirm that you have the right to submit them.

7. Subscriptions and payments

The Department offers a free allocation of filings. Additional ceremonies are available through an auto-renewing subscription, offered on weekly, monthly and annual terms.

  • Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and are managed from your App Store or Google account.
  • Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, a subscription renews automatically, and your account is charged for the next period.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your App Store or Google account settings.
  • Payments, refunds and cancellations are handled by the app store under its own terms. We do not process card payments ourselves.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app: not to attempt to break, overload or circumvent its security, not to use it unlawfully, and not to interfere with other users' use of it.

9. Intellectual property

The app, its design, the Department's marks, seals, wording and artwork belong to Everyday Arc Ltd and are protected by law. You may use the app for your personal, non-commercial enjoyment. You may not copy, resell or reproduce the app's design or branding without our permission.

10. A note on wellbeing

Let It Be Known is not a medical, counselling or crisis service, and it is not a substitute for professional help. Where the app signposts support, it does so as a courtesy. If you are in distress or in danger, please contact a qualified service or the emergency services in your country.

11. Disclaimers and liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do everything reasonable to keep it running well, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Suspension and ending your use

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or withdraw access where these terms are breached, or where we need to for legal, security or operational reasons.

13. Changes

We may update the app and these terms from time to time. When we change the terms, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after changes are published means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute relating to them or to your use of the app is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Contact

For any question about these terms, please contact Everyday Arc Ltd at support@everydayarc.com.
